Is this still an issue?  If so, I suggest these two free tools: Bome's Mouse Keyboard (allows you to use the computer's keyboard as an input device), and MIDI Yoke 1.71 (the actual MIDI device).  Google them.  I use them (poorly, I might add) and believe they're what you're looking for.
