Yeah I check out Battlelog at work and that is when you are playing.  I guess being two time zones behind you by the time I help the kids with their home work and get 'em in bed its at least 10 P.M. your time before I get in.

It's like other roguelikes except everything is based off the DooM series (weapons, monsters etc) with lots of cool new RPG elements. Highly recommended, the gameplay is much deeper than what it looks like and the games can take 10 minutes or over an hour if you get far enough.

Ill try to sum up that link if you don't want to read all that. A roguelike is a game that is basically a dungeon crawler. You get a perspective from uptop usually. Each step you take counts as a turn where you can do an action (move, attack, use something etc.), there is no waiting involved though, turns are instantenous.

A game usually consists of you, the player, exploring a dungeon, gaining levels, finding treasure and eventually get out of said dungeon. The chance you have of making it out alive are very slim, you will die a lot, it's part of the genre. Games go from very short to about an hour.

tldr; it's a dungeon crawler where the odds are incredibly stacked against you
