Smoke's low budget sli gamer

$1000 LIMIT.Gonna go with amd(my first ever)939 because it will be alot less expensive then am2.i can always upgrade board and cpu later.Since i already have a decent lcd and speakers i should be able to get alot of performance for little money.just won a AMD 64 3500+ 939 on ebay for 70 bucks shipped w/ a thermaltake after market heatsink and fan included,SWEET.soooo the first part will be on it's way in a few days.i'm wanting to build a custom plexi case with the mb laying down instead of upright.2 120mm blowing in from the front and 2 120mm exhausing out the top above the graphics and cpu.there will be nothing else in this part of the case that doesn't have to be.psu,hd,cd/dvd drives in seperate compartment either on top or the side depending on cable length and whatever problems arise.any and all advice is appreciated.this will be a piece by piece build that will take some time to eventually get all the pieces.

just won a Abit A8N32X motherboard off ebay for 92 bucks shipped.so that's 162.00 so far.i figure another hundred on ram ,150 on the psu,80 on the hard drive,50 on a dvd burner,20 on a floppy(do i really need a floppy) and 500 or so on graphics.everything except graphics and ram will come from ebay probably(man i love that place).oh crap forgot fans,so thats another 50,oh yeah and materials for case at least 50 there, damn looks like that 1000 limit wasn't very well thought out.looking at 2 7900gto for graphics.it's just a downclocked 7900gtx for 200 less,249.99 at the EGG.WELL does this look like a good project so far?

anyone thinking on a new graphics card should consider the evga 7900gto at $245 it's a steal.or just wait for dx10 cards.a review i read said the gto is a limited run card and evga is backordered right now.

Good choice on the eVga cards.  If you decide you want a DX10/8800 card within the next three months, you can trade in the 7900s.  I also like evga's lifetime warranty.

the price on those has been going up over the last week or so.but there on a weekend sale at the egg so i thought i better get em now.maybe this build will go smoothly or at least with minimal complications,i hope.the custom case is going to be difficult, the idea sounds good to me but with the heat pipe setup on the motherboard i'm kinda concerned.i've read that u shouldn't put these in certain caes where the motherboard is mounted upside down.i don't know if a laydown will be a problem or not ,i havn't seen or read anything about it.but there's only 1 way to find out.

just got the cpu.i have enough parts now to assemble and get it going, but to do so i would have to tear down my pc to use its case.it's very tempting but i think i'll wait  because i'm hoping to sell that pc to a coworker soon.the custom plexi case just isn't a great idea, for what i would spend on plexi alone i could buy an extremely nice case.$150 for a sheet of 1/4 inch plexi (which probably isn't thick enough to begin with)is just too much.i'm thinking about the antec nine hundred,3 120mm fans and 1 200mm top exhaust fan sounds like more than enough.
