Your rate is the speed that data is transferred between you and the server.  The default is 20000, and yours is set at 1500, which is why you were getting lag even yesterday when your ping was OK.  There's a file called config.cfg in your program files\valve\steamapps\<username>\cstrike\cfg folder.  In that file, look for a line that says "cl_rate" and change the 1500 to 20000.  I'm not sure why your ping was high today.

I had fun today too.  I wanted to stay on longer, but my sister called, and I was getting hungry.  I've got to learn those maps.  I spent too much time looking for the bomb a couple of times.  :lol:

This may be one of those times that a locked down server would be good.  Have a training night where everything gets explained and we can play with you veterans for a little bit before trying on the server while it is open.

yeah sure, I have no idea what I'm doing, I just shoot at the other team...
the weapon buying systyem confuses me, and I don't quite no what the bombs are all about.
This is one of those games whaere if you are a noob, most experienced players will let you know
alot that you suck. not DJ, savage and code though, thanks.

The people who have been on the server so far have been cool, and it's really nice to play a game (as a player and an admin) without having to worry about spawn kills.  There are four different "game types" based on the map.  (We've got the two most popular game types right now.

The main objective is to eliminate the other team for either map.

"cs" maps - There are hostages.  The Counter Terrorist team leads the hostages (by going up to them and pressing "use") to the safety zone, which is near your team's spawn area and clearly marked.  The Terrorists prevent the hostages from being rescued by killing the Counter Terrorists.  Neither team should kill the hostages.  If you kill a hostage, you and your team loses points, and if you repeatedly kill them, you are automatically kicked.  The Terrorists win the round if all the CT's are killed before the hostages are rescued.  The CT's win by either killing all the Terrorists or rescuing the hostages.

"de" maps - One person on the Terrorist team has a bomb.  There are two bomb placement areas (A and B), which are clearly marked.  The Terrorists win the round either by detonating the bomb or killing all the CT's.  The CT's win the round by either killing all the Terrorists before the bomb is set, or by disarming the bomb (by going up to it and holding 'use') if it is set.

Their are different team and player point awards for doing different things.  You can check out the stats help page for more info.  Your team also gets money for winning the round, rescuing hostages, disarming/detonating the bomb, etc.

I'm not sure about what the best weapons are yet.  Basically, you choose your weapon based on what you want to do (snipe, or mid range, or close combat).

Say can you people help me out...call me a noob for this but well when I play CSS the server kicks me out...but not on purpose it kicks me out cause I don't have CSS ASSULT and other maps. You have any idea how I can get those maps so I don't have to experience that again? HELP ME OUT!!!! lol

Assault is one of the maps that comes with the game.  I noticed that the maps that come with the game are not in their usual place on the HD (program files\valve\steamapps\<user>\cstrike\maps.)  Try this - right click on the Steam icon in the system tray (near the clock).  Select games, right click on Counter Strike Source and choose properties, then choose the local files tab and the option to "verify integrity of game cache.
