then how much slower would the 'normal' connection be?
depends on network traffic, Cable lines are shared, DSL lines are dedicated to the CO. so it all boils down to how many are on your specific node, how much total bandwidth is available vs utilized AKA network congestion. But you'll get close to if not more than 1 MB/s, I get anywhere from 1.1 to 2.9 MB/s on torrents and regular downloads depends on where I'm downloading from, i usually see steam getting 1.3 MB/s sometimes more.

I'm sorry but there are 3 items on the back panel, if you need it color coded to figure it out, then you don't need a computer. lol.

Just saying.

I'm surprised that you posted the ONLY modem that supports DOCSIS 3.0.

Currently what comcast has provided me.

what is "qwest high speed internet"? Is it DSL or satellite/tower based like clearwire? or FIOS?
It seems to me that is DSL
i have no idea what company to choose.. i'm leaning to comcast but my parents are being cheap :(

For a while my computer wouldn't remain on for some reason. The CPU fan would be on still but all input to the monitor would stop. When I tried to turn it on it wouldn't boot or post half the time. When it did manage to boot up I checked my cpu and vc temps and they would max in the 50s when playing games so I don't really thing that had anything to do with it. I could just be browsing the internet and it would just cut off some of the times too. I changed the ram sticks to the other 2 slots on the mobo and so far its been running fine all day.  Would that really cause those kind of problems?

Lucky for me others bought the same mobo and ram and had similar problems.  From what others were getting it seemed to be a compatibility issue since the RAM is meant for intel boards and not amd. I got a few settings that worked for some folks so I'll give those a try.

Still got some issues with it but i also found it they were running in single mode instead of dual. Apparently the manual has a misprint and that the mobo i have has had some issues with its blue-colored slots (2 black, 2 blue, manual had the left of both as channel A and the right of both as channel B) so I moved one of them over so they're both together in the black-colored slots and now its registering as dual. So far so good. Again.

ram is a tricky thing and probably produces 75% of the "unexplainable" issues ppl have.

hope you get it worked out and if not i can try to help.

Does anyone have a motherboard that uses a Marvell controller for SATA3?  I have a EVGA X58 FTW3, and it has 2 SATA 3.0 ports that are controlled by a Marvell controller.  The other SATA ports are 2.0 and are run by an Intel controller.  Yesterday, my computer froze while I was at work, and when I came home to restart, the Marvell controller failed to initialize, and so my RAID set up is no longer recognized at all.  I switched the 2 SSDs to the Intel SATA ports, but it doesn't recognize the RAID set up, and so it wants to wipe the drives to set up RAID again (which I would like to avoid).

I haven't been able to figure out how to get the computer to start the Marvell controller up again -- it's like it just disappeared.

I tried resetting CMOS, power off for a few hours and then power on, unplugging and replugging in the drives (make sure cables are seated properly), removing other peripherals and restarting, going into BIOS and disabling and then reenabling the SATA 3.0 controller, but no effect.

Anyone else had this issue?  I saw some other folks had the same issue on some of the EVGA forums, but their fixes didn't help.  Any other ideas?

EVGA approved an RMA return.  Now just have to ship it back to them.  Will be out of commission for at least a week.
