does anyone use this to burn dvds? Cause im having a slight problem. It will copy the dvd just fine, but when it comes to writting it... all hell breaks loose. It simple wont write the dvd. I goes fine for the first 4mins, then my computer seems to stop sending info to be written to the disk. And when i take the dvd out, there is huge gaps between the written and unwritten parts of the dvd. Needless to say it failed.

I never use the program to BURN the DVDs, only to copy the content to the hard drive.
you might try using Nero or another program to burn.

rip the DVD with DVDFAB then use DVDShrink to create the ISO. Then Use Nero or Alcohol to burn it. Never had a coaster doing it this way.

Jader, using cheap media is a huge part of the problem
most
of the time. But you can get around it in many cases by dropping the burn speed in half. Even some more expensive media can have this issue.

forgot to mention I only burn at 6.0 speed. takes roughly 10 minutes but its worth it. And when you rip it use the dvd9 setting not the dvd5 setting. Then shrink it to fit.

which DVD? some have copy protection. I use DVD Decrypter to copy DVDs, and the DVD Shrink to shrink and burn (uses my Nero engine)

DVDFAB strips all of them so you can copy your collection.

i think my burn speed ranges from 6x to 7x. Should i have it locked so it doesnt change? I have it on recommended right now. Also, if i use the dvd9 setting, dont i need a dual layered disk? Im guessing dvd9 is a one to one copy. Not sure, i have never really burned dvds before.
Gene, i just burned 300 with this software, and thats a pretty new dvd.
Also, the more crap i take out... like extra features and previews, the better the picture will be right? Im guessing with all the extra stuff, the movie gets more compress, thus crappier picture.

there will be minimal difference if you take out the extra features; most of the space is still the main movie.
also, the copy protection is kinda weird. it was on scrubs season 3 but not on season 4 or 5....so there doesn't seem to be a system for it.
did you try the dvd decrypter/dvd shrink approach?

With some DVDs you can double the data available for the movie by removing the extra features, and even in the cases where it isn't that drastic, it can still make a very noticeable difference in visual quality on a better DVD player\TV, Gene.
Try to get the main movie above 4GB if you can. Any more than that is helpful, but is mostly just gravy.
Also, DVD Shrink can rip most DVDs - even newer ones - with no issue without the extra time and processing of another application. Always try that first, if only because the DVD Shrink interface is the easiest to work with.
As for burn speed, using variable speeds can cause a problem with cheaper media. Set your burn speed manually for half of the speed of your drive, and if that doesn't work, step it to 1 step slower than what the disc itself is rated for.
