um, possibly along the macro line of thought...
It takes me some time to eat a sandvich.  Most of the time when I actually spot Xykon eat a sandvich near combat he pulls it out, stops for a split second, ducks & jumps & switches weapons, and keeps moving.  I'm not sure what to think of that, reminds me of how some people switched weapons in counterstrike when sniping because it was faster than the delay on the weapon.
I do what I like.  You have problem?

He almost never eats his sandvich.  Medic for him once.  He switches to his sandvich and drops it on the ground.  He can get a 114 health boost instantly by doing that.  He also will throw it on the ground in front of his medic if the medic is taking damage.

Xykon isn't scripting, he just that good.

The drop/eat trick ... to me valve have screwed up.  The sandvich is meant to take 4 seconds to eat.  A scripted drop/eat/walk bypasses the process.  Yeah it only gives you half health recovery, but for a heavy, thats 150HP...

I never thought of drop eating...

it's not well documented anywhere - even on the tf2 wiki for heavy or sandvich - no mention of it.  I reported it as a bug to valve ... with no effect :(

You folks are going way out there on this stuff.  I call it working as intended and a good option.  Takes a second or two to pull out the sandvich and drop it and grab it off the ground, sounds balanced since the full eat time is only 4 seconds.

Frankly, I am resisting (unsuccessfully) the urge to say "get over it."

I don't mind now that I know what he's doing, Lol.  I just never saw the sandvich drop, likely because I was behind him at the time.

yeah the sandwich drop is meant to be there so that anyone can pick it up for lesser health

Quote
In Meet the Scout, the Heavy's Sandvich-eating is interrupted by an enemy Scout, who kills the Heavy with his Bat before eating the Sandvich over his corpse. The fact that when a Scout eats the Sandvich of an enemy Heavy he has killed, he recovers more health than any other class could be taken as a nod to the item's original inspiration.

when eaten it heals 300 hp to yourself

The sandvich has been out and working like this for two years.  How is it *my* head up *my* ass that you decided to notice it and get into a hissy fit about it?

Is it because the guy that you learned it from kicks the shit out of everyone else on the server?

Take offense all you want at my "get over it" comment, but the fact is that Valve is telling you flat out to "get over it."
