CoH News
« on: September 19, 2007, 05:33:49 pm »
I may not play CoH/CoV but having tried to get the perfect name on many other MMOs I found this news pretty cool.

NCsoft Deletes unused toons, frees up names.

Good idea for a little news thread. I think I shall use it.

More teasers coming out of issue 11. The latest talk is on screenshots of the 2 new melee power sets, dual blade and willpower. Blades looks cool, and I am sure there will be some great animations with it, but I see it being the next wings. We shall see on that one. Willpower I am not so sure on. I have been wishing for a new power set for a while now, so I guess I should at least be happy there is some available. I was really hoping for a new mm set.

I like hearing talk that lvl 50 characters are getting some more stuff to do as well. I think it is nothing more than some new contacts, but not sure on that.

The rumors of a bug MM seem to be a favorite.  I wish it could be implemented, but it seems like community pipe dreaming - I would kill for a bug MM tho - it would be awesome.  Dual blades is probably going to be cool, but Willpower looks like energy armor with different colors, or even invulnerability.  Defense sets are all boring anyway.

Mr. party pooper over here :P

A bug mm would be cool, but who knows when that will happen. I want a pirate set, just so I can make a pirate chick and have the who theme going on.

I don't find defensive sets boring at all. The graphics in the game mean just as much to me as the gameplay, so having a cool looking aura with my armor always pleases me with new powers. Plus you can't play well with out the defensive sets. Unfortunately you are right on the willpowers look, at least from the screen shots. They are comparing it to invul. and energy. I even see a bit of sonic in there. There is a lot of bitching already occurring due to this. It seems everyone was thinking more of a psionics look to go with a willpower theme.

NCSoft has bought out Cryptic.  Because of this - as a "thank you" if you have a retail copy of either game, you now own both.  So if you only owned City of Heroes, you now also have Villains, and vv.

Also, Microcenter is still the cheapest way into the game.  City of Villains is still selling for 6 bucks...

Yes.  I'm struggling to catch my main villian up with Meph's mastermind .

I miss the big team-ups we use to pull off once in a while.  I'm mostly solo these days, so leveling takes even longer.

So far, the issue is the best in a while. Not just for the VEATs (especially since I can't play them yet lol), but because of everything else they have done. I need to check out the hollows next.

I love being able to play the earth power set, and actually do some damage with it too.

I came down to find allan requesting some info on what is new in issue 12.  He went offline before I could answer...  so here's a brief thing on the major stuff:

A new zone (based in ancient Rome), the Hollows has had a store, hospital and level up place added.   Villain Epic archetypes - you can now be a Widow or Soldier for Arachnos.  Many of the power sets that were exclusive have now been spread around - ex: dark\dark tanks are now possible.  A bunch of chat and interface changes.  Psionic blasters...

Many many MANY minor improvements, as well, including being able to buy new slots on your favorite server.  All current accounts get two free slots with this update, plus you get a free slot for every year of paid subscription time.

For the full infor, go here.

There is a LOT of stuff.
