Topic: Fortress Forever

This is a pretty good time if you happen to be a fan of the Fortress game type because along with TF2 in beta (for now), a Fortress MOD was released for the source engine and its free. It's called "Fortress Forever" and it is quite different from TF2, its more the old Team Fortress Classic but remade for the source engine.

It doesnt look near as good graphically as TF2 but the maps look pretty professionnal and they have a nice flow. The models are what really bugs me, think of the squarish models from HL1, yes they look that ugly. Seems its a conscious decision but I always found the models to be horrific and they look so dated. Guess some people have gotta like them 

Gameplay wise, it is a lot more fast-paced, in fact it feels like the game is on steroids when you compare. Every class runs, basically, so it can get pretty hectic. Each class has its own abilities, more side weapons and different main guns. A big big thing in the old Fortress gameplay is nades and they are in this one. You can fly across a whole map if you know how with a certain nade. Pyros get incendiary nades, spy gets spikes that slows down enemies etc. They are quite a few of them.

Otherwise its the same basic gameplay excepts this MOD just has more features. Its 1.0 for now but feels like there's things missing and it feels un-polished. I'd say this one is a bit more serious than TF2 but its still interesting to play.

Check the site for screens, infos and whatnot, its worth downloading and trying out, it's free after all.

Bringing back an oldy, I wanted to see if anyone else has downloaded it. I just recently played it, and I'm HOOKED ! TFC (Team Fortress Classic) is the all time fast paced, team oriented, multiplayer, and they really nailed it. If anyone wants to play, just let me know because I'd love to. Before my CS days, I was a full time TFC player and CS was my nemesis. Now I enjoy them both

i uninstalled it and reinstalled over the past year.  it is too half-life based "tfc".....those of us who played quake team fortress just can't grow to love it.  there are a lot of things wrong with it (stealthing spies?  spies are supposed to feign death in the original TF.  they removed gas grenades.....what bs....).  HWguys are supposed to have a 20mm cannon.  sniper rifle charge times are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.  3 seconds is the correct timing for a full powered shot.  i mean it is a mod even still in infant stages but it is missing 75% of what the original quake TF had. 

i still have my entire quake TF game zipped (its exactly 666mb lol).  if you never did get to play that and only played TFC......you missed out on a lot.

as for the blocky player models.....haha.  i just cant get into fortress forever because of the maps/game types.  on top of that there were way more things you could do on the original quake engine that are not implemented.
