i was thinking about upgrading to xp 64 and was wondering what kind of performance boost it has over regular xp. i know i dont want to upgrade vista.imho it sucks..(dx 10 cards get lower fps then it would using dx9.and also vista already is going to dx 10.1 but thats another story)....so any info on the os is greatly appreacited. well now im off to look at prices.

the problem with xp64 is....THERE's NO DRIVERS, and barely anyone uses it, I haven't seen much of a performance boost. I used it for a little while but switched back.

The only thing I have heard about the 64-bit version is that you supposedly
cannot install drivers unless they are "digitally signed" by MS... I hope that's not true,
I haven't seen many drivers that are.

I use xp64 on my comp and there is some stuff for it but it like this you get two web browser options 32bit internet explorer and a 64bit explorer and when you use 64 when you surf there are alot of places almost all that use 32 so do what you will it works for me

I used XP x64 for over a year without any big problems related to drivers. The only thing I couldn't find a driver for was my scanner, and it was over 5 years old to begin with.
To me, XP x64 seemed to run faster compared to 32bit XP.
There's a lot of misunderstanding related to the difference between digital signing and WHQL drivers.
Get the facts
if you're interested.
