I have a desktop HTPC case, so no tall aftermarket coolers will fit. I though the low profile Zalman one might do the trick, but it won't fit because of the heatsink on my Northbridge... so stock it is for yours truly.
Cool. I have an Arctic Freezer Pro 7. Between that and the Zalmann, I think they are the best air-cooled heatsinks out there. As I said, I have no control over my memory timings or FSB, just the clock speed; which is irritating. I think when my processor is going full out (doing the prime95 torture test) it is around 50c.I think I could safely OC to 3.2 because I never do anything super CPU intensive. What do you think?
YES! pics will help aloti will get you in top performance for the bottom dollar. ps you wont have to pull your processor for this... just the heatsink.
you can rotate the zalman.... other than that you could cut the NB heatsink to fit and add a 40mm fan to the side of it, to compensate for the surface area loss on the NB heatsink
For my next case, I am going to get a dorm-room size refrigerator, drill some holes in the side for wires, and just put the darn mobo in there with the fridge set to max... heck with a case!
that really works...
screw that. I'm going to build a refrigerated clean-room to put my computer in. No dust and cooled to -40F, with 0 humidity.
