so...
been working on my main rig a lot lately. i bought a bunch of clearance water cooling stuff to make my setup well, faster...
one of the harder things was getting these 2 285gtx full cover blocks to fit my 2 260gtx. but i succeeded!
then i made a custom hold down plate for my NB as there are only 2 water blocks made for my board and both cost $40. since i have extra water blocks i just cut a piece of plexi and made one for about $3.
so now im cooling the CPU, NB, both VGA, and SB.
i got all the tubes fit and connected. lines bleed for air and leak tested.
awesome right? booted up the rig and went into the bios to check my new awesome temps.
CPU is at 25c, awesome!
mainboard is at 20c AWESOME!
MCP is at 72c....
wtf?
one of the hold downs on the back of the mobo fell off, stripped or something cuz the SB block is not fitting tightly anymore... F M L
im half temped to just cut a hole in the back of my mobo tray to get to the hold down cuz any other way i go about it will cost me money for new tube and about another 5 hrs to tear it all down and build it back up.
sigh...

If you cut through, be careful of the metal flakes and metal dust. I would not recommend that.

i know guys, i know...
thanks for talking sense into me.
just been real short on free time these days and ive been with out my main rig for about 2 months. im just over it and want it done.
if i order more tube that will take about 1 week to get here then who knows when ill get an other nice chunk of time to sit down and reassemble it all.
working too much and not having time to just enjoy life is eating away at my patience in a big way. i never used to be this way.
i need a vacation....

Recently finished my new setup. Nothing fancy in terms of processing power, but a fun build. It's a quad core i7, 12GIGs, and a 250 GIG SSD for the OS.
The fun part is, Im trying to see if I can run it as a completely silent PC by day with no moving parts.[No moving parts=no sound], and also have the option of OCing it for gaming.
Did this by
Replacing the stock cooler with one of these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233032
The SSD takes care of the harddrive spinning sound.
Using a high wattage[850] smart PSU, which doesnt run the fan below 25% usage.
Case with a lot of airflow.
Fanless GPU.
I was hoping to run it stock with no fans, This works in theory and the temps are acceptable for day to day usage, but when I run the prime torture test on all the cores, the temperatures shoot up to the 90s. It doesnt BSOD thou. So I had to underclock it a little to work as a quiet PC.
I was hoping this machine will be a quiet productivity machine by day and a gaming freak by night. Even thou the system doesnt need fans in the quiet mode, there are still 4 fans on the case which are switched off during day. With the fans in full blast I can OC the 3.06GhZ processor upto 4.0Ghz but the machine is noisy.
Im yet to put in a new GPU, Im still running it on a old GeForce. Looking forward to play Crysis 2.
Pics to follow.

thinking on selling my 775 ddr2 system and going with a sandy bridge.ram and motherboards are dirt cheap and once in awhile there is a sweet deal on a 2500k.and i still havn't listed the z-5500, so their just sitting in the corner lol.buy the time i sold everything i wouldn't have to spend any money out of pocket.and should actually get to pocket some too.i figure 2500k+ cheapo mb and ram and 32gb ssd all around 350 total if i can really find the sells lol.

listed my z5500,cpu,ram,motherboard.cpu sold in like 10 minutes lol.might go ahead and list the xfi sound card, the mobile intel core2duo i never upgraded my laptop to,all the old ram i have upgraded from and those 4 delta fans i bought for a project that never came to be.
dont know which cpu yet,may go dual core to save money and power.z68 motherboard for sure but have not decided which.probably will only purchase 1 stick of 4gb to start with.really all depends on the combo deals or promos newegg makes.
