I switch back and forth mostly between Demo and Soldier(loving the nOOb canon on account of my nonexistent skills) for the most part.  I like to play offensively and tend to be a bit reckless at times attacking(my apologies to my teammates that were hoping I would stay alive a little longer) but I am trying to get better.

I do like to play engineer but it seems like that is a favorite among others so if there are already a couple of others I pick something else.

I am a really bad spy or medic but like to give it a try.

I have been trying to find ways to put turrets in really weird places these days, so I have been playing engineer more than normal.  I'm finding that during normal game play it is very hard to actually get set up in some of the places I have found while just messing around alone on my own machine.  I have found that there are cielings in surprising areas, with one open area having a low ceiling in one place and high one in another.  I've never really seen that on a map since most maps are just a bunch of squares or rectangles "glued" together with doorways.

It is amazing what you can use the sentry gun or dispenser to get up on top of.

It seems to get harder and harder to keep your machines alive.  Everybody knows where to expect them now and kills them off pretty quickly.  It seems like moving them fairly often is the best way stay effective.  Its hard to rebuild on fast paced maps.  It seem like you barely have time to rebuild before the other team is already working on your last CP.

I totally agree, Meph :)

I wonder whether you could get over to the other side before the set up time is over in the train map...

Heh, I just remember me, Sinner, Darth, and Choo standing on that roof by the laser on the map with three capture points.  The sentries were in a very impressive place, but they couldn't actually hit anything

I think machine survival depends totally on your team.  Sometimes, I feel like my sentry gets gibbed in two seconds, but then sometimes, if my team is playing aggressively (theme for the thread: turtling sux) and not giving the other side a chance to coordinate very well, my guns last forever.  Last night I had a sentry on one of the Dustbowl forward points that had a ridiculous number of kill assists... I have noticed this interesting trend: if your sentry is racking up the kill assists, it will live a long, healthy, productive life (oh, no, wait, the dispenser is the healthy, productive one... injures self laughing at self's stupid pun).  However, I have often found that the next event after my sentry registers a solo kill is the death of my sentry.

That being said, I have no engineering expertise, but sometimes I have to play it if I am on a team with none... that should just never happen (even on offense, a single teleporter can swing the game!).  Still, I'd rather it be someone else:  which brings me to the topic of the thread...

My class preferences, in order:
1. Demo
2. Soldier
3. Sniper
4. Spy
5. Heavy
6. Scout
7. Pyro
8. Engineer
9. Medic

However, I will play whatever I, or my teammates, think the team needs.  They're all fun in different ways.

By the way Meph, kudos on the cool Radiohead quote: "There's always a Siren singing you to shipwreck."  I love that line!

Oh, and I only try to do the "explore new options" thing when there are multiple other engineers on the team.  I even warn people not to take my teleporter since it normally takes you somewhere weird and not very good for forward travel.  Altho you will probably like playing sniper and taking my 'porter.  Nameless found that out last night.  That perch on Well that I get to is awesome for sniping if the enemy rushes your last point.

Me too. Hard to decide how much to pay?  If you pay too little, you're a cheap chump and you mess up the whole experiment, if you pay too much you're a sucker fanboy (or girl)... I wonder how many people pay the regular CD amount of like 15 bucks?  Too bad there aren't stats on the website, like RHstatsX or something.
