Original post for the "Funny TF2 "griefing" videos, or why I'm glad our server has rules" thread.
These are videos of some players being really mean to their own teams while playing. There is plenty of harsh language being thrown at the griefers. You have been warned.

A lot of this is engineers using teleporters to sabotage or piss off their own team. Priceless...

it sure takes em a while to realize the engineers who are 'just watching' have deliberately placed those exit's there ;)

You know, it's ironic that the day I read this, the kI server is visited by someone who apparently sends every thought straight from their brain to the mic. Good times.

Winning or Losing at TF2: What makes the difference?
« Reply #9 on: December 31, 2007, 03:44:38 am »
What factors do you all think are most important in determining whether a team wins or loses at TF2?  Obviously, a good class mix is key.  I don't see too many attacking teams win without a medic or two, or too many defending teams stay afloat without demos and engies.  I also think communication is very important... there have been times where no one seemed to be on the same page and we just got rolled quickly.  What do you do to improve teamwork if you are getting rolled like that?

There are several things that I think can hurt a team and cause them to lose.

1. Lack of a plan.
Sometimes a plan is needed.

2. Lack of communication.
This is critical when organizing a strike on a CP or the intel room. It is also important for the team to be notified if the intel defense is in trouble.

3. Spawn time separation.
Sometimes a team will get separated by the spawn times. Half the team dies and while they are waiting to come back the other half dies. This can severely cut down the power of your team because only half the team is alive at the same time.

4. Not having mentok on your team.
I have heard from other players that having mentok on your team almost guarantees a win.  The jury is still out on this one because I have seen mentok on the losing side many times.

We are going to need an official review on this.

The thing about Lack of a Plan and Lack of Communication, is although it would definetly be helpful, if you have skilled individuals on your team you generally get lucky. Person A spots person B going for the intel and tags along, all the while person C is going into the base from an alternate route. They all collide and magic happens.

Sorry, but I have to respond to that one.  Imho there are two paths to having an effective team.

One relies on a commander giving an overall strategy.  This plan depends on obedience and commander skill.  Mentok makes a decent commander, however it is impossible to carry out regular banter and still get necessary info communicated when he is always giving orders.  When a team with a commander loses, they lose morale.  After that they are almost certain to lose repeatedly while the commander gets more and more demanding.

The second path to an effective team is closer to an economic system than a political system.  Communication is again key, but in this case an overall team plan is less necessary.  A single friendly sniper isn't important enough to receive specific instructions from the commander unless there is something only a sniper can do, however that same sniper can cause significant disruption especially if there is enough open mic time for them to tell their teammates what they see.  The best teams that I've seen have been comprised of individuals and pairs doing what they are best as/ what they enjoy doing, while keeping the team informed of any significant obstacles.  Another advantage to this is that morale is much less of an issue.

Key difference between the two types of teams is audible.  One type of team has people who say "Hey Anomaly, take down the turret to the left!", while the other has people who say "There is a turret to the left of the entrance." or "Can you take down the turret to the left of the entrance, Anomaly?"
I do what I like.  You have problem?
