Absolutely.  I stopped playing once they started that bs.  Destroyed an awesome game.

I'm not sure how.  Everything you like is still in it.  Ignore the new stuff if you want.

I'm actually enjoying how they've been able to keep it fresh with interesting ideas for new weapon versions.

Also, achievement whoring has gone away pretty much completely now that you get the newer weapons as random drops instead of as achievement awards.

Seriously, you guys will have to let me know how an aspect of the game that is non-intrusive and can be completely ignored somehow ruined the game.

Ive been able to get on a few times in the last few weeks for some 30min sessions.

I gotta say, the game does fell the same if you ignore the new whatnot. i think its crazy how there were able to find the balance to keep the game play almost exactly the same for the old sckoolers yet offer new stuff it keep it interesting for those getting board and the new commers.

And now its free!?!?!?

TF2 is the gateway drug for steam...

Fair enough and to be honest I haven't tried to play much in a long time.  My point of frustration became when the focus became more on all the achievements and collectibles.  I felt like it changed the way people played the game.  Instead of working as a team to get objectives it felt like everyone was more concerned with personal advancement than team or objectives.

I was fine with the class updates until the Scout.  Prior to that I thought that they all fit well with the game.  Then we ended up with a bunch of gimmicky weapons that were more novelty than addressing a weakness or a missing piece to a class.

Like I said I haven't played much for a long time but every time I have tried I just can't get into it.  The changes in themselves might be non-intrusive in theory but I feel like it changed the way people played the game.  It obviously didn't ruin the game people still love it...  perhaps I just burned out on it.  Anyway I wouldn't think of myself as a purist but I used to love this game.

i hear you Gad.

i stopped playing around the time most of the clan got board with the game due to having no one to play with...   :(  i went back to play many times but it just wasn't the same with out the boys and girls of kI. i gave it a rest for a bit then went back a month or 2 later and was greeted with a totally different welcome screen. it took me about a minute to figure out of the hell to get on a freaking server! finally i get on one and like you said. everyone was so worried about hats or whatever than the game was totally different! i just shut it off and didn't come back for a long time...

then one day i played with FoMo and a few others on the old timers server and was drawn back in like i never missed a beat. the newer weapons were a welcome change after i figured out how to change them around, a side from that i never got into any of the other items.

i go back to the locust clan, Evga & old timers servers maybe one or twice a week to play when i have a free minute and i have a great time. i would have a better time if more of kI could jump in tho.   :(

A FAQ about the difference between f2p players and those that paid for the game before (or for anything in the shop now).

I guess I could find someone to 'coach' and have them give me a special item.
