Fruity Loops
« on: August 12, 2007, 09:39:04 pm »
I've been trying out Fruity Loops, and yes it IS a stupid name for a program,
but it seems to work pretty well. A friend and I have been using it for the soundtrack
for a CG short film. There's alot to learn, but I think it's worth a spin.

The guitar instrument in the new versions (Slayer) has alot of features and almost unlimited
variations in customization. It is VST plug-in capable, and there alot of instrument packs
to find and play with.

here's a piece I made, but keep in mind I can't play guitar worth crap these days.

the upload is gone now. they don't stay up forever. You're not missing much.
The program is still worth playing with, though.

I had it for a while, I didn't like it much. I only use these programs for recording some things I come up with on guitar. I prefer cakewalk.

I don't have anything to directly record from my guitar sadly. I would like to though.

Anyway,
I like FruityLoops but I can't figure out how to use the keyboard to record again. I forgot since I last used it. I've got the Studio Edition.

to record my playing I opened a second program (Cool Edit) that would record
when I played the piano notes.  When in doubt, cheat.

Sounds really neat Smack.  Cool effects, sound kinda like a pipe organ.

thanks.

good thing you can save presets when you get the sound you are looking for.
Each instrument has thousands of variations, it's hard to remember what settings
got you the right sound.

Those are variations on the "Slayer" guitar instrument.
