i did read your post on the other thread and even went to the link. but my lesser evolved cerebrum did not comprehend much of it in terms of what i use windows for. but as far a x64 support goes im lost on that too. is this necessary for things i may need to do in the future?

other than being able to use more ram i have no idea what the real world use of 64 bit really is.

Actually I believe it's the addition of the windows firewall.

there are other differences, but you can join a domain in home, it's a standard in windows networking protocols. iirc.

You can't join a domain with XP Home, but you can join a Workgroup, There's a big difference.  Workgroups don't use ActiveDirectory.

64-bit will let you use a tremendous amount more of memory, but there's not a whole lot of other benefits with it right now, and it comes with a whole slew of compatibility issues.  Unless you're planning on using more than 4 GB of ram, I'd just stick with 32-bit XP.
