it would depend on your mobo. not all Bios are the same. but as a general rule anything you can get on the stock vcore (intel spec) is pretty darn safe. its when you get into overvolting is when you start to risk part failures.

i tried ... but it instantly killed my machine ... mobo rebooted itself and i restored to stock

how high did you go? most C2Ds OC pretty nice. id expect at least 3.2ghz on stock Vcore.

didnt do much ... ive read alot of people OCing my chip to 3.4 and 3.6 ... i couldnt even get it to 3.0 ... my mobo is meant to handle most of the changes for ocing itself but it clearly didnt like me raising it up from 266 to 290something

which cpu and mothboard?probably going to have to strap the ram down so its speed increases less compared to cpu.

ok i was able to up the FSB to 333 and i went and fixed the memory to run at 667 ... seems stable so far.
FSB:DRAM has changed from 4:5 to 1:1
