Topic: Steam/Valve game studdering!

is anyone esle experiencing SEVERE lag/studdering in their steam games?

i did not change any hardware or software, settings.... ect.

just started one day. basically once the menu screen comes up after loading ANY game in steam the studdering starts. the effects are video and sound lag (very similar to what happens for a brief second after you change your video settings in any newer valve game) and does not stop. makes the games flat out unplayable.

all my other non steam games run just fine. uninstalling steam did nothing. i think it was some auto update that made everything all dumb. ether way its not just me haveing this issue.

I've been noticing that when i join TF2 for the first minute or so it's like im horribly lagging, i'll run a few feet forward shoot right back, stuff like that, my ping is fine however. Dunno if thats the same problems but.

when i was switching games in css i would get video lag, restarting css sometimes resolved this, but I went into the css exe (hl2) and set compatibility mode to xp sp2 and checked the bottom three boxes under the settings area and it seemed to go away

well for me its in steam, steam apps, your account name, counter-strike source, you select hl2 exe right click, compatibility tab, choose compatibility mode xp sp2 and I disabled the bottom three boxings in the settings area

oh, ok i know what your talking about. ive been there b4. ill try that out till steam gets a "fix" for the bug.

well turned out the easy fix for me was uninstalling the Nvidia firewall. simple as that, turns out the steam update has a conflict with it on some computers but not all. some people haveing the same problem said they weren't even using Nvidia stuff. so i really don't know what the real problem is, but what ever.

to bad steam totally ignored me.  wish they could of at least sent me a verification that they got my email or something... oh well. my games work. for now....

shoot mine was acting up again, i do use nTune, maybe that's causing a conflict?

-control panel

--add/remove programs

and look for "Nvidia network accesses manager".

remove/uninstall that lil bugger! and your good to go.

hmmm well i take it your having the same problem i was?

the thing is that different stuff worked for different people. so that may not even be the prob. but tou could check out those links and see if any of that helps.
