Wireless router question.
« on: March 31, 2008, 03:34:06 pm »
So i got me a shiny new dual boot vista kubuntu. Of course windoze knows how to handle a passworded network, so my question because this is the first time using *nix with a wireless connection is....

How do i set up the damn thing so I can connect to the interwebs?

I've tried adding a gateway, no go there. So I'm at a loss.

Thanks.

Is it Wep?  If so, A quick google shows this:

cc@ubuntu:~$ sudo iwconfig eth2 essid MyNet
cc@ubuntu:~$ sudo iwconfig eth2 key xxxxxxxxxx
cc@ubuntu:~$ sudo ifconfig eth2 up
cc@ubuntu:~$ sudo dhclient3 eth2

taken from http://mediakey.dk/~cc/howto-use-wep-encryption-with-ubuntu-linux/

If it is WPA, I'd have to go look some more.
