im so amped! i might be the new proud owner of a jagermeister cooling unit!

its basically a mini fridge with a very small storage area for liquid. you may have seem them in bars before. its the black box that all the upside down jager bottles sit on top of. it drops the temp of the jager "below freezing". what ever that temp is, im sure its pretty cold. and im sure it would cool down the liquid thats returning back from my CPU pretty well also.  ;)

all i would need is a CPU water block, tubing and a pump to complete the system.

sadly... i don't think im getting the chiller.  :(

but to get my "feet wet" in a liquid solution i bought this...

http://www.svc.com/cl-w0086.html

i know its not the best water cooling unit in the world, but i read reviews on it and it seems solid for use on 2 7800Gtx's when installed right. mostly due to the ALL copper radiator. so, i am going to mod it into the said earlier peltier cooler and use it to cool my CPU. i don't think this cooler would be very effective at cooling my Quad alone (opposed to my Zalman) to justify $100 worth of temperature improvement.

how ever, with using the peltier attached to the second water block in the same loop as the water block attached to my CPU it should drop my temps considerably lower than my Zalman did.  ^-^

so this saves me a ton of money up front instead of having to buy a complete water setup plus a extra water block. the cheaper setups start around $130 before shipping and the second water block. (which i might add did not get to many good reviews) not to mention this unit is very compact and at worst could be used to cool my north and south bridge or at best could be used to cool 2 peltiers in a more advanced water cooling setup at a later time.

ill be posting the results soon.

so, got the water cooler via UPS last night, got everything put together.... and yea. the same temps as with my Zalman 9500.

i believe the culprit to be that the water blocks have no "fins" inside them (im looking into this) and fail to remove the heat from the CPU effectively as well as cool down the water passing thru the peltier block.

facts:

the CPU water block got really warm = good water block contact to CPU.

the peliter block was very cold = good water block contact to peltier.

little tiny air bubbles moving thru the tubes = the pump is working.

water tubes had no noticeable difference in temperature between hot and cold side of the loop = crappy water blocks!  :wallbash:

the only other thing it could be is possibly a weak pump. but from the speed the tiny air bubbles move i think this can be ruled out.

next step: new water blocks. pics coming in a day or 2.
