Topic: slow loading steam games.....

i can see the card on my device manager yes, but it doesn't even show anything else when i hook up an ethernet cord. no "new connection found" or anything. and its on the motherboard. i am considering going to buy a new one except i don't have hardly any money right now due to i just payed rent today.

i dont think you were supposed to see a "new connection found" when u connect it straight with an ethernet cord...because the access is supposedly there already.

yea. it depends on your settings if you will see that lil icon or not.

but if your not getting on the net and the card is installed.....hmmm. maybe a bad driver. possibly a bad cord too. that happened to me before.

try moving your pc next to your room mates pc. unhook his pc and hook up your pc to all his wires. if you get on the net when hooked up to the room mates cord then its probably that the cord in your room is bad or is connected to a bad port on the router.

if not,then its probably a bad driver or card.

check in ur network connections area, that will tell you all of ur available or disconnected networks

there's only 1 connection. and its my network "so called" card and nothing else. when i try to enable/disable it, it takes like freaking 10 minutes for it to do anything. doesn't have any incoming or outgoing data. just stays at 0. and i've actually tried using my room-mates ethernet cord on my computer, and used mine on his, and its not the cords. his is a laptop and he has it in the living room. i have my PC in there too. i know for sure its not the modem or anyting because my wireless works fine on it, and as a matter of fact i'm using my ethernet cord right now on my laptop. so i know its my card/motherboard. normally when you plug in an ethernet cord into the slot on your computer the light shows up green. well, its got 2 lights on when i plug it in, orange and yellow. the yellow light looks like the one's on frontal areas on computers when it is working (if that makes sense, sorry its 2:45am right now and i don't know why i'm in bed, but can't put together words very well). but my room-mate has about 5 ports on his router and i've tried every one, so like i said, don't think its that. thanks for at least trying to help get this fixed. i guess what i'm going to have to end up doing is either buying a new card or taking my computer into my best friends' dad's store (he owns a computer store and is OMG amazing when it comes to fixing stuff like this). anyways...thanks for advice and help guys. i really appreciate it.

right click on your connection and choose properties and then highlight your IPv4  and choose properties and then statically set your IP address and domain information, you may need to go to run and type cmd and then when that pops up do a ipconfig /all, that will tell you all the stuff for your wireless card so you can figure out what you need to enter

i actually figured out what was wrong. when i was installing my graphics card driver, there is a driver that includeds the network card integraded into my motherboard. it monitorers it and whatnot. it had deleted that driver and didn't re-install it for some reason. so i figured this out by buy a new network card for 15$ at walmart steam still loads slow as crap though. i even did put in a ticket a while back with steam and they responded but i still haven't really had any results. this is the link to that ticket https://support.steampowered.com/view.php?ticketref=3370-WTNM-0849. ive already tried this with css and tf2, still no progress. >.< least i have my internet back. thanks for the help though guys. really appreciate it.
