don't forget, its the chips and mobo that make or break you, try looking on your mobo's manufactures web page to see if you can find a compatibility list for ram that is known to work with your mobo.

if you ask me i think it will be a slim chance that you would get a 4Gb set and 2Gb set to work together. i would try a 2Gb set like the one you already have. if you have your heart set on more than 4Gb i would just wait until you have enough money for 2 4Gb sets.

i dont really see a need for more than 4Gb unless you doing some rendering or something like that. with that in mind, more than 2Gb of ram wont make your computer any faster at games or loading windows. in fact, it will drop you FPS a tad.... especially if your using more than 2 dimms. higher density dimms almost always have slower timings and using more dimms uses more resources. if you need the ram then it would make your PC faster but if you don't.... it wont

just look at over clockers crazy rigs on the tables.... they only roll with 2 dimms.

yeah I know... i got a real slim chance. (by the way I am writing this on my brand new, shining vista 64-bits! yay!!  :) but I am still dual booting with the odl XP I got, just to be sure) now what I will do. I'll try to sell this 2Gb kit. And I'll just get a perfoming 4Gb kit. but you know, I don't need high perfoming mem anyway: my quad max FSB is like 440 445 at max so... thats 880MHz and 890MHz in freq of my mem. so I'll just pick up a 4Gb kit... anyway my other XP partition will not even recognize all of the 4...  :uglystupid2:

what do you think of these kits: one of all of these will go into my mobo:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26456&vpn=F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ&manufacture=G.SKILL

this seems to be a steal at an 100 bucks...

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=28786&vpn=OCZ2RPR10664GK&manufacture=OCZ%20Technology

this is nice to have mem with heatsinks like that

or the last and not the least:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=28709&vpn=TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF&manufacture=CORSAIR

the Domintors Module of course  (Corsair is my favorite manufacturer of mem  :) their servise and their product are EXCELLENT.

thanks guys!
so anyone want a 2Gb mem kit  :)

i would go with OCZ...

i use OCZ.   ;) seems to be priced right for the speed/size. the Dominators look nice too, but i don't think its would the extra $$$ for the minimal gain over the OCZ. from what ive read the Dominators are top Dog when it come to air cooled RAM... but not by a land slide. if price is no object then by all means pay $35 more for the Dominators.

Wow, not a week into this install and Vista dies on me.

It wouldn't boot.  Locked in the middle of playing with the sound.  Rebooted to a "registry is corrupted" message.  The repair function worked, tho, so I am up and running again - but I am not happy.  I just loaded Vista on my wife's machine and my son's machine.  I don't need to be worrying about crap like that.

Hmmm, not a problem with my Vista install except with the bad x32 disk.

I'm curious to see if you start having video driver problems on COH now that you're running Vista.

I am running the Beta 177.92 drivers.  I have absolutely no problems except for two things:

1.  Media Player causes lag.  After a little research, I found out this is because of a DRM checker that runs while WMP is running.  mfpmp.exe.  There is no way to stop this from running since for some reason even non-DRM MP3's can have issues playing without it.  I use Winamp when i game, now.

2.  Anything that I drag from place to place in the game - like moving enhancements around on the management screen - have cut off icons.  while dragging, only the upper left third of the icon is visible.

Otherwise this has been smooth as silk.  Most difficult thing is figuring out where all the damn sound settings have been moved around to.

hmm that's weird.  I've been problem-free with my 32-bit vista...did you figure out which registry entry was corrupted or what caused the corruption?

I'll try the 177.92 beta.  COH still drops out all the time, graphic settings don't seem to make much difference.
