microstuttering in Crysis.
« on: September 06, 2008, 10:54:27 am »
  I get like lil pauses when playing crysis... I don't know what is going on. Can it be my windows live one care? mmmmh... Can it be other drivers like conflicting... the only weird thing I notice is like some rocks popping when I am playing maybe caused by the same issue.

Microfreezing is a well known issue with ATi cards and crysis.

i think alot of ATI cards are hindered by their crappy drivers. it sucks. even more so when the driver install takes almost the same amount of time as installing my OS.

you can always look for modded drivers written by a 3rd party. i don't know where to look but i have heard of them.

yeah I could use a lil bit of googling. look into the 3rd party drivers. I think I found the cause: Windows Live One care. I had this utter crap installed on my PC... was ****ing everything up. You know you CAN'T turn of this anti virus? loll even if you end the process in task manager it reappears short time after, telling you that a malicious ''thing'' ended the process... (that being me lol)... microstuttering is gone. except a lil lag there and there. but you know. I think this is drivers though. Do you guys shut down every users process before gaming?

you could go into msconfig and tell it to never have any of its agents start up in the first place

did you try the Omega drivers? I think those were optimized for performance, stuff may look a little funnier...

Omega hasn't released any new drivers for awhile.  He had some issues that kept him from working on new ones but he said he is coming out with new ones soon.

Omega drivers would probably be worse since his card is so new.

This guy has been putting out drivers for awhile but I have never tried them:

DNA drivers

Just released the other day.  XP only though.   :-\

I don't know of any others.  I like Omega myself.  They don't get released as often as the official drivers but I have experienced a lot better stability with them.  I haven't had any GPU related errors or shut downs in quite a long time.
