I think i may reload from scratch.  I have done enough screwing wround to make me want to start from scratch with the knowledge of how to do it correctly.  Messed up driver installs, codecs, all kinds of stuff.

This beta has a ways to go for a power user.  Awesome for someone that doesn't dig around much tho.

Are you going to go with it as your only OS or dual boot?

Just wondering cause I should have a new rig in a few days.  Maybe I would just as soon give it a try as buying Vista.

Don't really want to go back to XP now that I will have all new hardware.

I have two HDDs in this machine, I use the boot menu of the BIOS to boot to one or the other.  Dual boot has always caused problems when I've done it, so i avoid doing that.  Also, I like having a partition that i know works without issue if the other goes boom.

As good as W7 seems to be, I still would never trust my main install to just a beta.

I got Windows 7 installed today.  My RAID drive wasn't being detected the other day because I was using the wrong driver.

It installed with no problems, and found all my hardware.  The Creative X-fi drivers installed, too, using compatibility mode.

I definitely boots and shuts down quicker than Vista, and it feels faster, too.  I like the new taskbar, and that the sidebar is gone.  Gadgets sit right on the desktop.

I haven't tried any games yet.  That's next.

Yeah, I had no problem playing it in Vista.  Haven't tried with 7.

CSS runs fine.  Far Cry 2 seems to run smoother compared to Vista.

So far so good, although my stupid auzentech sound card drivers don't seem to work the microphone very well.  I tried CS:S on the W7 boot, and everything ran very smooth, with the exception of the sound.  I probably won't load up any more games on the W7 drive.

I like the interface better, and firefox seems a bit "snappier" than on my Vista install.

That is what I was thinking.  Thanks.
