A new map, any volunteers?
« on: September 16, 2005, 10:40:22 pm »
I have a proposition for the clan.

Altough I will still work on the habitrail map, I'm burned out with it at the moment and want to make something different. I am going to begin work soon on a new map, it will be an outdoor map kind of like some of Call of Duty's maps. The city maps have been done to death. I am still new to terrain mapping but I'm competent at making buildings, I think. My problem is layout and design. If anyone has ideas for layout or can help me by reviewing my material and lending their suggestions, let me know. you don't have to be a mapper to help, you all have played enough maps to know what is good and not so good.

The only thing I have so far is a group of buildings I've designed. If anyone wants to check them out let me know. Just send me a PM and I'll e-mail it to you. I'll add some screenshots later of some of the designs.

I've always liked the dm_tropic map, but it's too laggy for some people.  How about something similar to that, the tropic theme, I mean.

yeah maybe, gotta figure out terrain though, plantlife is what bogged down that map I think, and the amount of water.

A LOT less water, tho.  That's what causes the lag.

Too bad we can't have too much water in maps. I like it. Thats why i do so badly in maps with water, I have to look at it all the time. lol. But yeah use a lesser power when ya make displacements in source SDK. Looks bad, but honestly who looks at the scenery that much when ure fraggin away.

Dried up lake bed or pond, with the docks would be cool, a dark night time map. Maybe some water in the low spots.

Im tired of mapping for the moment as well. I have no screens, they were mostly indoors, and always at night.
