Topic: Ok, it's out, what are your thoughts?

So what do you think of the "new" CS:S?

I'll post my thoughts when I actually get some play time on my computer, i don't think i can make a fair assessment with my laptop.

But initial thoughts are, I'm not too keen on it. But i'd like feedback from others.

Don't notice a real difference other than the normal script growing pains. Ignore the award popups in the lower left and its the same game.

I like being able to change my name instantly so it following tf2 and others in making your steam name your name for everything kinda annoys me but other than that there isn't much of a difference to me. Hopefully the server bugs and tweaks are done so we aren't stuck with office TOO often

That said. I'm totally aiming for P228 Master

i think they changed some codding to help on the MAC end of things. seeing as how most MAC users are not system builders and a lot of MACs come with lower spec C2D CPUs they may have made better dual core support for the source engine to help out the lower end CPUs so the game would be more playable on MACs.

i did notice this a while back in HL2. on my netbook it plays SOOOOO much more smoother now than it did when i first got the netbook. i can get >60 FPS now (50 FPS avg.), as before id be lucky to peak out around 50 FPS (30 FPS avg.).

it's funny, cause i have 30 platinum P228 awards, but only 2 kills. stats reset ++.

Maybe its the laptop, but the graphics look different, the mouse response is different to me. The new maps are nice, if i ever get to play em. lol. accolades seem like it's a compete with x-box thing like COD:MW2. Like i said I dunno.

Yeah I have it too lol. It's only 200 for the P228 so it shouldn't take that long. I noticed there wasn't an SMG Expert....

I haven't been able to play a lot, but for what I have it feels like the same game to me.  Seems like most of the changes are superficial and I don't notice them much.

Hopefully I will be able to start getting on earlier so I can play more with you all.

My lag troubles feel more in line with my actual connection as opposed to some kind of weird steam problem several months ago.  That's nice, and maybe in a few months I'll finally have a good connection.

also the registry problems should be fixed, though I don't know how to confirm it other than various posts on the steam forum

(only played surf and deathrun maps during the beta)
