This game does not play nice with Folding@Home.  Just in case you notice the constant lagging and bad performance, remember to stop the folding process for this one.  First time I've ever seen Folding not play nice, actually.

Wow, people are really weird about this game.  I see reviews that harp on about how awesome the game is (its a shooter, there really isn't anything surprising or innovative in it), or how offended and disgusted people are that the game doesn't shit all over a modern video card like the old Crysis did.

Maybe it is because I got what I expected - a streamlined interface system from the old Crysis, with graphics that don't make my eyes bleed from FPS drops.

My take?  Decent, if only evolutionary gameplay, continuation of the Crysis story concept, graphics that are downright photo-realistic at times (just like Crysis), and NO LAG.

At this point I'd give it 8/10, but I'm not incredibly far into it.

i think hardcore ppl are just pissed its not bleeding edge beautiful (DX11, Teslation, etc...) and is a obvious console port.

that is kind of a slap inthe face to the gerne of gamer that made the game(and Crytek) a household name. especially after all the shit the main dev talked about how consoles are holding back the tech. then he makes all the PC gamers suffer the basicness of a $60 console port? really???

im sure the game is as awesome as the others. but thats kind of the point. it should be way more awesome...  like a few years ahead of its time awesome...

in reallity i understand why they made these choices as a company. and imo this will make them more money more easily than if the spent more time coding specifically for the PC because the avg person isnt going to care that much and the enthusast market is a very tiny share.

id say they made the right move. it was a dirty one  but they will benifit much from it.

now i just cant wait for the complaints from EA a out how the PC sales are suffering becasue of pirateing... thats going to give me a good laugh.

i will buy this game and enjoy it someday. but only after it goes on sale.

That's the interesting thing - you know me, I'm a hardcore gamer.  I have thousands of games.  My steam account has triple digits in its library.  Games are games.  This one is beautiful, and is easily one of the best looking games on the market right now.  It really has to be seen to be believed.  Also, Crytek has been very clear for years now that this was a PC to console port, not the other way around.

It doesn't even *feel* like a console port.  What I think is hilarious is how most of the raging anti-Crysis 2 and Crytek posts are from people that openly and freely admit that they haven't even played the game.  I've seen it on most of the forums that I have read that are active on this topic.

yea i hear ya, for the record im not bashing the game and as i said i totally understand why they did what they did.

and when i said hardcore ppl i should have been more clear. i was referring to hardware junkies with multipul video cards, you know benchmark whores with peiced out water cooling kits that bought all kinds of hardware so that they can run the newest games at high fps the day it comes out. those peole wait for games using the latest unoptimized software engines just so they can watch there rig chew thru the frames of the latest tech and they pay the premums for such hardware for that reason.

so when a game like crysis comes out and isnt even runing the latest DX version its a bit frustrating. the reason review writers are making such a stink about this is because these are "those ppl" that im talking about. and they take the stuff personally.

not trying to argue, just trying to help you understand what all the mudslinging is a out since you posted about it.

No I get it, and I agree completely.  I understand the disappointment, even - its the strength of the disappointment that is weirding me out.  I mean I see legit sites with threads talking about how they wish death and torture on the makers of a game.  I mean... wow.

funny thing is that these people that are bashing crysis2 because it's not killing their systems want a game like that, then they probably already have one.it was called crysis.i don't need another one running on the side of crashing at any moment.i doubt dx11 would add much to the game that we would notice if it wasn't clearly pointed out in some in depth review.the truth of it is if they made the game way more visually appealing and system straining, would current consoles even run it?

The 360 doesn't do anything more dx9, and the PS3 doesn't do DirectX at all except through emulation.

Tempted to get this, but would you guys recommended I play Crysis 1 before playing 2 for a better story line experience?

After reading the discussion, should I get this for PC or the console?
