New Phone Upgrade (hopefully)
« on: June 22, 2011, 11:46:07 pm »
Right now I have the Blackberry 8900 (ATT) and the contract is almost over, so I'm thinking of upgrading, but no idea what..
I really want the Motorola Atrix but I read a lot that ATT has really nerfed the droid capabilities...
Money-wise, ATT does offer an "upgrade" for the iphone 3gs for 50 bucks... but it's apple..
HTC Inspire 4G looks nice, but not as powerful as the Atrix.

Blackberry is nice, but Droid seems to be better... though idk now since ATT nerfed it (as i assume other carriers have done, but not to ATT's extent)

If i get a job over the summer (which I think I should.. applied to at least 25 places within the week, and not stopping to apply until I actually get a phone call), I might change carriers, but not sure since I'm with the family plan for ATT.

If its a popular phone it wont matter what crap the carrier thows on the phone. it will be hacked and there will be a way to take the junk off, along with tons of other things you will be able to mod.

Buy my old droid for 300 bucks +tax.  Its a steal!  You'll have to switch to Verizon!

the Atrix should be a popular phone (not compared to the apple products though) since it claims it can double as a netbook as well..

The netbook portion is too expensive.  Phone has great specs, tho.

40 isn't bad.  I think you pay 20 bucks on top of your 30 dollar data charge at Verizon.

My wife has the verizon version - the fascinate. I think fomo does too. Its a nice phone, but has some weird quirks. Like the alarm not always working...

It's not unlimited --- it's only 200MB per month.  For $25, you get 2GB per month, and $10 per GB above that.

F that!

Pretty sure verzion is moving to somthing like this soon... im grandfathered in to the 29.99 unlimited but... $30 per phone is still WAY too much money for whats its worth... if it was faster or i wasnt always around WiFi maybe i would feel differently but yea... totally not worth $720 a yr for my wife and i. thats almost a whole new PC upgrade!!! every year!

My next droid will have the tegra2 (with a phisical KB if possible) or if i can hold out long enough ill get one of the tegra quads. i just hope the new tegras will be used on more than one manufacture. options are always good.

Nope.  iPhone data plan and Droid data plan are sold separately from the Blackberry data plan.  So you would getting a "new" dataplan.  I like the new set up.  I never use more than 1GB a month, so I actually save $5 per month.
