Quicktime
« on: November 20, 2005, 11:19:34 pm »
Okay I have Quicktime 7 and I watch most of my podcasts on h.264 and .m4v

It'll work perfectly normally and everything but after I play a few HL2DM or CS:S games all the videos end up with this bright pink tint and the only thing that works is restarting my computer.  This didn't start happening until about a month ago and I've reinstalled QT several times.  Is there something I can do?  Or do I have to restart my computer everytime I want to watch Diggnation or This Week In Tech after playing a few Steam games?

Does it happen when you play games that are not Steam-based.

No only when I play Steam based games.  Should I reinstall Steam?

I'm not sure if re-installing Steam will do anything.  It sounds like not all of the video/display settings are returning to 'normal' after you exit the game.  On several occasions when HL2DM crashed on me, the gamma/brightness setting and screen resolution didn't return to normal.  Did you make any changes to your video card drivers recently?  Besides the problem with Quicktime, are their any other noticeable problems with the display?

I went from a ATI Radeon 9200 to a Geforce 6600

Come to think of it...it started about the time I made that switch

Did you change any Directx or video card settings, or did you leave them at the defaults?  Are you doing any overclocking?  What's the version of your video card drivers?  You may want to check the release notes for your drivers and see if anything is mentioned there.

nope it's on default settings aside from the taskbar icon not being there.  not familiar with overclocking so i don't bother.

The video driver is version: 7.7.7.7 dated 7/20/2005.  I dl'd it directly fron nvidia's site

I would try and install the latest drivers as a first step.

Yeah the new drivers should fix the issue.  If they don't you have to do this:

Right click on your dekstop and choose Properties.
Settings.
Advanced.
Geforce 6600
Color Correction

In the "Apply Color Changes To"  dropdown box choose "All"
Click Apply

That's it.  It should fix the problem for you.  I had th same issue with the drivers between 71.x and 84.x, except video was that way *always* not just after I played Steam games.
