SLAM's point modifier too low
« on: December 21, 2005, 11:49:06 am »
I just noticed while looking over the stats, SLAM's only have a 0.50 modifier ?  :o

Hmm, it is quite hard to get a kill with those especially when FF is on. It's a big risk to lay them down since you'll probably slaughter your team as much as your opponents. Could we please change this, the weapon is already not used as it is, some points to go along might be a good incentive.

How about a modifier of 2.0 ? (thats like the bow, I think theyre both as hard to get a kill with considering FF ON especially, without its not as hard but still a pain to set them up anyway)

2.0 might be high, but I agree they are at least as hard as an SMG.

I think that slams require the least skill out of all the weapons, besides maybe looking for a strategic place to set them.  After that, you run away, and hope that someone who's not a teammate triggers it.  No aiming, trying to dodge whatever is being shot at you, etc.  Besides the ctf/objective maps, I don't see much use for slams.

Amen to what sinner said . 1.5 wld be nice for that , not for the kill it gets you but for the skill it requires to set it up .

Maybe I should have made this a vote instead

Well DJ, you're exactly right, it's all about finding a strategic place where
they will be triggered and not seen. Since they are fairly visible with a bright red laser, I'd say that task require some thought and skill be put into it.
I forgot to mention doing this in the middle of a deathmatch will get you killed by someone sneaking up on you a lot so it is risky.

1.50 sounds decent ?

I think we should restrict Dj to using SLAMS on a couple maps and see how many kills he can get with them...

It takes quite a bit of skill to get SLAM non-tk kills.  It is rare that I can get a kill from them.  So rare that I normally cheer through the mic when I tag someone.  Not only is it difficult to find a good, strategic placement, it is almost impossible to actually set them on a decently busy map.

If it so easy to get kills with SLAM's, how come its the least weapon used on the whole server (0.56%) ?

That's not very logic is it ?  :P

Set the point modifier to 10 for slams , im sure we will see more kills with slams and the pace of the game will slow down ,may be, it will even become like cs:S  :P

Everyone thinks im always angry...

Was just exposing a flaw in the logic that SLAM's are easy kills.
If anything, smg nades (1.25 ) and combine balls (1.00) should be nerfed to both 0.50.

People don't use them because they are too difficult.  A cheap kill is the RPG, yet that's one of the most popular weapons in the game.

People think you are always angry because we can't tell your inflection from text.  If you had a mic they would judge you differently...
